Yes, we're going through the canal, one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, and we will also explore the beautiful sights of Panama City. The Late Jurassic-age Morrison Formation, which yields so many of our local Grand Valley dinosaurs such as Stegosaurus and Allosaurus, was named after the town of Morrison in the foothills west of Denver. On this trip we will visit the type section of the Morrison Formation and see where the first dinosaurs in the Morrison were collected back in 1877 by Arthur Lakes and Benjamin Mudge. We will also visit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and see the beautiful mounted dinosaurs from the Morrison and other formations. Led by John Foster

The Fremont rock art of the Vernal, Utah area is a unique style that is extremely graphic and depictive and also full of mystery. On this trip we will visit McConkie Ranch to view the famous Three Kings panel and will also see rock art sites in Dinosaur National Monument. These are some the most impressive and head-scratching panels you will ever see! Some hiking on unlevel ground will be required to see some, but not all, of the art.

Ever heard of the Grand Canyon paradise? Come along to two of eastern Utah's finest museums. We'll stop at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum in Green River which tells exciting historic events of the Green and Colorado Rivers. Full scale replicas of explorer John Wesley Powell's boats, artifacts and models bring to life his dangerous journey down the uncharted rivers. The next stop is the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum in Price - Dinosaurs, the Ice Age and archaeology! On exhibit is the world famous Huntington Mammoth as well as one of Utah's greatest archaeological treasures, the thousand year old Pillings figures. We'll also visit their new Mesozoic Gardens exhibit featuring living fossil landscape.

Sit back and enjoy a scenic tour down the old Cisco Road, along the Colorado River, with stops at the historic Dewey Bridge site and Hittle Bottom. Durango is one of the crown jewels of the San Juan region and on this trip we will explore some of its many diverse highlights. The first day of the trip will be spent in the Ute Tribal Park on a guided tour of some of the less known and visited Anasazi ruins just outside of Mesa Verde. The second day will be spent on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad taking in breathtaking scenery. On the final day we will explore the ghost town of Ironton on Red Mountain Pass.

We'll travel to Aspen to enjoy a hands-on experience of ranching and mining at the Holden/Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum to relive the boom of mining in the late 1800s. The Museum houses extensive mining equipment from that era. We'll also visit the Frontier Historical Museum in Glenwood Springs to learn more about the area's colorful past which includes the hot springs, local geology and an opportunity to get to know more about the infamous "Doc" Holliday.

There is so much to see and do in Alaska but we're stopping in Sitka - at least for a couple of days. Sitka is Alaska's most historic city, famed for its beautiful architecture, museums, Native American culture and wildlife. From there we'll fly south to the tip of the Baranof Island to Port Alexander. For the next few days we'll experience our own "big fish" expedition. At night our guides at the Laughing Raven Lodge will prepare gourmet meals and entertain with the life and lore of this small Alaskan village. Our naturalist guide will take us into and around the shorelines and into the wild to see and identify the local wildlife. Take a tour of one of Rabbit Valley's most impressive bone beds, the Split Rock site. This ancient river channel of sand and gravel has produced hundreds of bones of sauropods as well as Stegosaurus, Allosaurus and Othnielia. This year Quandary Peak is our destination. Located 6 miles west of Breckenridge, Quandary Peak is Colorado's 13th highest point. Our long day hike will begin at 10,850 ft. and, just over 3 miles further, we'll summit at 14,265 ft. On the top we'll be able to see what looks like the whole state of Colorado and maybe more. Nearby are other 14ers you'll set your eyes on... for another day. This is a strenuous hike so get in shape. You won't regret it.
