Whitman Educational Center
This 1925 vintage building, now headquarters for the Museum of Western Colorado's education department, was built as the Whitman School. It housed the Museum when it opened in 1966, and the Regional History Museum until 1999.

Sea Monsters of the Grand Valley gives us a glimpse of what our area looked like during the Late Cretaceous when western Colorado (and in fact most of what is now the Rocky Mountain region) was covered in a seaway up to 600 feet deep.
