Oral Histories:

The Mesa County Oral History Collection, jointly sponsored by the Museum and Mesa County Public Library District, contains over 2,200 hours of recorded interviews. The original tapes, an index to the collection, and transcripts are maintained by the Loyd Files Research Library. User copies and indexes of the tapes are available through the Mesa County Public Library.

 

Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps:

The Museum's Loyd Files Research Library has copies of all Sanborn maps available for Mesa County (Fruita, Grand Junction and Palisade only). These generally document the heart of each town, and do not include outlying areas. The earliest is an 1886 Grand Junction; the latest is a Grand Junction update for 1961. The Tomlinson Library, Mesa State College, has microfilm copies of these maps and for other Colorado cities.
