It is officially dig season at the Mygatt-Moore Quarry! Our first dig was on May 25th and went very well. Dinosaur Journey volunteer and castmaker Dorothy found an Allosaurus tooth tip - our first of the year! On June 4th a beautiful Diplodocus tooth with wear facets on two sides was found in the quarry. This was the first sauropod tooth found this year, and a very nice specimen!

On June 7th one of our dig participants found another very nice Diplodocus tooth that had a worn down tooth crown. Our summer intern Jake and volunteer Darrell also removed a nice section of a long rib that is running under a large Apatosaurus vertebra we have been working on removing for the past two years. This particular vertebra has many ribs radiating out from underneath it, so removal of the specimen is taking a while. Hopefully this year we will get it into the lab!

Today one of our dig participants, Cheryl from Texas, found a nice Apatosaurus tooth that has a worn down tooth crown as well. It was our 4th tooth in 4 days of digging! Not a bad streak!!
