Rattlesnake Canyon Hike

Seven hardy souls braved out the rain and an eight mile hike as the Museum of Western Colorado visited the famous arches of Rattlesnake Canyon on May 2. The group was joined by two local experts and residents of the area, Charlie Hardy and Bob Sherrill, who pointed out unique geographic features and told us fascinating history and folklore of the canyons. All of the group made it up “Heart Attack Hill” just before the rains came and, while our quest of climbing thru one of the arches was canceled due to weather, we still managed to have breathtaking views of the arches and canyons. We were even invited to tour Bob’s cave-house when the hike was finished.

There are still several more hikes offered by the Museum this year including one in just a few weeks to the Mica Mine and Rough Canyon in the Bangs Canyon Recreational Area. You can register online here.
