The course introduces the technology of stone tool manufacture, identification of tool classes and basic lithic analysis. This kind of material is often the best indication of the presence of an archaeological site. “Stone tools and debris from making stone tools are the most common artifacts found in the Grand Junction area and much of Colorado,” according to Kevin Black, the course instructor.

This course is part of the Program for Avocation Archaeological Certification (PAAC) and is co-sponsored by the Colorado Archaeological Society and the Colorado Historical Society.
