Museum, BLM Review Paleo Plans
Dr. John Foster, paleontologist for the Museum of Western Colorado, and Katie Stephens, new Manager of the BLM McIinnis Canyons National Conservation Area, met at Rabbit Valley and the Mygatt Moore Dinosaur Quarry to review plans for the upcoming dig season. In their hands is the map of the quarry showing the more than 4,000 bones that have been removed since the early 1980’s. The Museum is the official BLM repository for vertebrate fossils collected in western Colorado. In 1986 the Museum and BLM established the nation’s first cooperative management agreement to protect and preserve fossil resources on public lands.
